The Area of Tourism and Exterior Projection of Montblanc has many and varied functions in the structure of Montblanc's Town Council. Some of them are strictly related to the tourist activity. Many others are a form of support to other areas of the Town Council.

Everything we do day to day is not only related to the tourist (to whom we dedicate much of our efforts). We also adress to the professionals of the sector, to journalists, bloggers and instagrammers, representatives of the administrations (technicians and politicians), and the local population (both individuals and entities).

 

Below you will find a list of the main tasks that have been carried out since 2000.

Start the Montblanc tourist destination

  • It began in 2000 with the creation of the Montblanc Medieval brand and the opening of the Municipal Tourism Office where 50,000 people are attended yearly.
  • We have established mechanisms of quality and relationship with the private tourism sector.
  • Everything is planned for one year view (action plan) and for periods of several years (strategic plan).



Position the Montblanc tourist destination

  • The objective markets, mainly of proximity and relative, are evaluated and the values ​​that make Montblanc an attractive place are attempted.
  • In the local imaginary we have realized that we are a tourist space and that it is not only the task and responsibility of the administration and the companies to develop it. It involves the citizen and local entities.
  • We have established nodes and identifying elements. It is not a simple task since we could make an endless list. We have prioritized the main attributes of the destination (monumental heritage and the Legend of Sant Jordi) and the recommended points of the walk. This allows us to present the attractions that are not so obvious at the outset.
  • We define strategies to attract new tourists and to satisfy those who visit us. We want the experience to be unique and to be remembered, which implies strategies adapted to each public.
  • Communication has evolved a lot since we started our work, so we have adapted our message to the changes of receivers and channels.



Boost the Montblanc tourist destination

  • We have organized various activities to attract new audiences and make your stay in Montblanc a pleasure. Many of them are punctual and, therefore, ephemeral. Others were born with a vocation for continuity, such as the annual festivals of Brickània, Terrània, Clickània and Safrània that bring thousands of visitors to the town, boost the local economy and generate projection and prestige.
  • We collaborate with all kinds of public and private initiatives. The most important is the Medieval Week of the Legend of Sant Jordi. But also Easter, Wednesday Tapa, the Festa Major, activities in nature, etc.
  • We involve as much as we can the local association in everything that we organize: ceramists, shopkeepers, Barjaula, Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Conca de Barberà, folklore groups, ...



Create and manage new products

  • In 2000 we started the guided visits to Montblanc in collaboration with the group of guides. We have been creating new proposals adapted to the needs of the visitors for 15 years.

Plan and design a tourist policy

  • Our area has as a mission to value the resources we have. For this, we need to work with a broad and integrative perspective, always in the medium and long term.
  • Each year we produce analysis documents of what we have done and draft plans to make it clear what we have to do.
