Origin
In the past, on Saint John’s Eve, in the evening, the people in Montblanc went up to the chapel of Sant Joan to celebrate the festivity altogether. The lighting of the bonfire was the signal for the rest of bonfires of all the villages around. While in the chapel there was the fair around the fire, in the nearest villages there was a popular dinner with the "coca de Sant Joan" (typical Catalan cake), the sweet wine and the fireworks to start a great and exciting night.
