Terrània

Terrània was created in 2003 following the initiative of a group of local ceramicists who proposed establishing an international festival dedicated to artistic and decorative ceramics. From its first edition, it became a pioneering event in Catalonia, renowned for the exceptional quality of the works on display and for attracting an ever-growing audience.

The festival’s main aim is to showcase a type of ceramic art that is often little known in Catalonia, going beyond the utilitarian tradition typically associated with the craft. For this reason, Terrània seeks to bring this creative world closer to visitors through high-level exhibitions, technical demonstrations and workshops designed for all audiences.

The name Terrània emerged from the local group of ceramicists in Montblanc and was quickly embraced as the festival’s identity. On one hand, it refers directly to earth —together with fire, a fundamental element in ceramics— evoking the deep-rooted connection between the craft and the territory. On the other hand, it alludes to the Mediterranean (Mediterrània in Catalan) as a sea, a cultural space, and a shared geographical landscape, reinforcing the festival’s open and international character.
