ORIGIN:
The most characteristic element of the Carnival in Montblanc is ‘la Xeringa’ (the syringe), a custom  which dates from the Middle Ages and consisted in making a big syringe and asking the visitors for a tithe. If they did not want to pay they got wet. Nowadays it is practised in the Major Square and everybody who passes gets wet.

On Saturday there is the route through the streets, the syringe, the floats procession and the fancy dress dance. On Shrove Tuesday, the last day the Carnival Rag Doll is buried and there is the reading of its will .
